The Road to Recovery, what a descriptive word picture.  This road is not unlike the road that an unfortunate traveller found himself on one day. Some robbers  had descended on him and left him beaten, naked and dying by the side of the road. Along came another man known forever in history as “the Good Samaritan”. This man picked up the mortally wounded man and helped him recover.

The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to help us to recover from the robbers named hurts, hang ups and habits who have descended upon us in our journeys and left us stuck on the side of the road of life.

Our true and only Higher Power, Jesus Christ, picks us up and we travel with Him toward healing and serenity. By engaging and working through the biblical principles which are found in the eight recovery principles and the twelve Christ centered steps, you can restore and develop a stronger dependency on God and connection with others.

I would like to give you a sincere invite to join us on the road to recovery, Monday nights.

Overview

The Youth are looking for people who are willing to offer use of their vehicle or to drive their own vehicle to and from youth events either within the city or occasional short road trips.

Goals

The goal of this ministry is to provide opportunity for youth to make life-advancing decisions.

Skills

Be a good driver
Not mind having a vehicle full of youth

Responsibilities

A Drivers responsibility would be to arrive on time to transport youth from one venue to another. This often means short drives within the city, but occasionally there are short road trips that require a driver to bring our youth safely to their destination.

Requirements

TIME COMMITMENT: This ministry fluctuates. If you have days or times that you know you cannot be available as a driver please indicate, but otherwise the driver will be asked with some advance notice before being asked to drive to any events.

People's Vision

Written by

It is our vision of a place where everyone will find grace, love, acceptance, help, hope, forgiveness, guidance, and encouragement.

It is our vision of a place where thousands of Peace country residents will hear clear, concise, practical presentation of the Good News of Jesus Christ.
It is our vision of developing people to spiritual maturity through bible studies, fellowship of God's family, where they are restored physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

It is our vision of equipping every believer for a significant ministry by helping them discover the gifts and talents God gave them.
It is our vision of sending out career missionaries and church workers all around the world, and empowering every member for a personal life mission in the world. It is the dream of sending out our members by the hundreds on shorter mission projects to every continent.

It is our vision of land, on which will be built a regional church for the Peace country with beautiful, yet efficient facilities... including a worship center seating two thousand, including ministries of counseling, prayer, and Discovery land. Also included will be a senior citizens development, a year round retreat center and camp. All of this will be set in a peaceful, inspiring garden landscape with bright flowers, beautiful trees, pools of water, and flowing streams.

As we partner with God in this mission it will be achieved.

History

Written by

People's Church began in January of 1981 in the living room of a home. There were 11 adults present at the first service held. Later that year, we moved from the home to rented facilities in Alexander Forbes school. The young congregation continued to grow and in the same year, leased the old Anglican church in the downtown core.

Over the next 8 years, the congregation continued to expand in that location adding the hall next door to its leased facilities. Also in 1986, the congregation purchased 8.71 acres of creek bank property as part of its overall strategy for a future permanent home.

In 1989, we continued our expansion by purchasing a warehouse in the industrial park district, which was then renovated for church use. The thought, at the time of purchase, was that this would be an excellent asset for the future.

In late 1996, it was decided that a more permanent home was needed. This was presented to the congregation in early 1997 and was endorsed enthusiastically. In the fall of 1997, architectural plans were drawn up for a multi-use facility. We began construction in the spring of 2001, and with the hard work and dedication of many of our church members, we completed the move to our new home in June of 2002.

People's Church has experienced over 25 years of rapid growth and changed lives. Our mission, "helping people find a purpose-driven life" is being fulfilled everyday in the hearts of people who worship with us.

People's services are designed for anyone to enjoy, even if you've never been in a church before. Music, drama and media are a big part of the way we communicate. We nurture and serve in small groups, offering the opportunity for intimate friendships within a larger community of faith, and we invest our resources heavily into our children and youth, believing them to be some of the greatest influences in the church today.

If you'd like to know more about the "whys" of the way we do things here, read on to explore our statement of faith, and our vision for ministry in the next decade.
