Updated: Letter from Pastor Nelson

Dear People's family,

Here are some words that have always meant a lot to me at times of high challenge.

“But now, this is what the Lord says fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.

When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; and the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God!
Isaiah. 43:1-3 niv

To meet the demands of these times here are a few things for you to know:

First there will be a full Sunday morning experience online for you beginning at 11 o’clock. The video quality will be outstanding along with the sound. The package will include a full music morning, with teach.

Second, we are producing a daily half-hour experience for you and family. This will run from 9 to 9:30 PM each night online, beginning this Sunday night at 9:00 PM and will include a very creative devotional, testimony, music, prayer, and special creative elements! You will hear slices of life from many of your fellow church members. We have entitled this daily production,
“End The Day STRONGER".

Everybody from children to adults will enjoy this production and I promise you it will strengthen you at the end of these long days that you are having! Daily strength is incredibly important right now so give this an opportunity in your daily regimen.

If you miss the 9 o’clock start time you will be able to still access it on the site whenever it does work for you. But we are really wanting to have this common half hour with as many as we can as there will be some prayer elements too!

Third, if you would like to come by for a coffee, prayer and a visit, one of our pastoral staff including myself, would love to sit down and enjoy a time together with you. Of course we would be respecting all of the current protocols for meeting including: spacing, and don’t come sick.

Social distancing is not social disconnection!

Fourth, we are planning a communion week where you can come in and receive communion during the week and receive the elements of the communion table in a safe environment delivered safely. Watch for that.

Fifth, Celebrate Recovery will continue with full respect to social distancing, do not come if you are sick, and it will be held in the big auditorium with chairs spread wide apart. This is well within the government requirements which are always subject to change. If the requirements do change we have other plans so that CR can still continue as we know how important it is to so many lives.

I love you and am praying, it seems unceasingly, that you will be strong in faith and courageous in life!

Pastor Nelson.

Come back to this page to access our online Sunday Services as well as our new "End Your Day STRONGER"

For those who do not have internet access, or if you know someone who does not: we will have DVDs available for pickup at the Church.

People's Vision

Written by

It is our vision of a place where everyone will find grace, love, acceptance, help, hope, forgiveness, guidance, and encouragement.

It is our vision of a place where thousands of Peace country residents will hear clear, concise, practical presentation of the Good News of Jesus Christ.
It is our vision of developing people to spiritual maturity through bible studies, fellowship of God's family, where they are restored physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

It is our vision of equipping every believer for a significant ministry by helping them discover the gifts and talents God gave them.
It is our vision of sending out career missionaries and church workers all around the world, and empowering every member for a personal life mission in the world. It is the dream of sending out our members by the hundreds on shorter mission projects to every continent.

It is our vision of land, on which will be built a regional church for the Peace country with beautiful, yet efficient facilities... including a worship center seating two thousand, including ministries of counseling, prayer, and Discovery land. Also included will be a senior citizens development, a year round retreat center and camp. All of this will be set in a peaceful, inspiring garden landscape with bright flowers, beautiful trees, pools of water, and flowing streams.

As we partner with God in this mission it will be achieved.

History

Written by

People's Church began in January of 1981 in the living room of a home. There were 11 adults present at the first service held. Later that year, we moved from the home to rented facilities in Alexander Forbes school. The young congregation continued to grow and in the same year, leased the old Anglican church in the downtown core.

Over the next 8 years, the congregation continued to expand in that location adding the hall next door to its leased facilities. Also in 1986, the congregation purchased 8.71 acres of creek bank property as part of its overall strategy for a future permanent home.

In 1989, we continued our expansion by purchasing a warehouse in the industrial park district, which was then renovated for church use. The thought, at the time of purchase, was that this would be an excellent asset for the future.

In late 1996, it was decided that a more permanent home was needed. This was presented to the congregation in early 1997 and was endorsed enthusiastically. In the fall of 1997, architectural plans were drawn up for a multi-use facility. We began construction in the spring of 2001, and with the hard work and dedication of many of our church members, we completed the move to our new home in June of 2002.

People's Church has experienced over 25 years of rapid growth and changed lives. Our mission, "helping people find a purpose-driven life" is being fulfilled everyday in the hearts of people who worship with us.

People's services are designed for anyone to enjoy, even if you've never been in a church before. Music, drama and media are a big part of the way we communicate. We nurture and serve in small groups, offering the opportunity for intimate friendships within a larger community of faith, and we invest our resources heavily into our children and youth, believing them to be some of the greatest influences in the church today.

If you'd like to know more about the "whys" of the way we do things here, read on to explore our statement of faith, and our vision for ministry in the next decade.
