Breakthrough 93: Day 26

Written by Pastor Nelson Jones

There's very few things as beautiful as a sunset!

In the creation account, God takes what was formless and gives it structure. In the first three days, he transformed the formless into the structured universe - the heavens (outer space), the water and sky, and the earth. In the second three days, he filled each empty realm.

Day 1
He creates light and dark.
Day 4
He fills the realm of light and dark with the sun, moon and stars.
Day 2
He creates water and sky.
Day 5
He fills the realm of water and sky with birds and fish.
Day 3
He creates the realm of sea and land.
Day 6
He fills the realm of sea and land with animals and humans.

One way to look at the order of creation is this:

  • Day 1 - 3 are God creating a canvas
  • Day 4 - 6 are God filling that canvas

A couple standing at an altar exchanging marriage vows are creating a canvas and now, they will paint a lifetime of pictures on that canvas. A person kneeling and opening their heart to Jesus is creating a canvas and now, will spend a lifetime painting the pictures. Parents in the delivery room have created a canvas and now, will spend a lifetime painting the pictures.

There are many different canvases in life. Friendships, finance, jobs, education, gifts, talents, experiences, just to name a few. What we fill our canvas with is where the riches of life are!

Here is a wonderful principle of art; all of the mistakes the artist makes can become part of the beauty of the painting. You may not like some of the things on your canvas, but God by his grace paints them in to the beauty. That reveals his goodness and your faith!

God is the only perfect creator and we certainly are not, but God is also the one who gives grace to the imperfections of our canvases and makes them beautiful!

"...He gives beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified. "

Isaiah 61:3 KJV
