Breakthrough 93: Day 3

Written by Pastor Nelson Jones

Why would we look forward to the return of Jesus Christ?

Recently that old line was brought to my attention again when somebody asked; "What, will I go to hell if I don't go to church?". The question in itself is wrong and reveals an unsure basis of determining our eternity. It is asked presuming that we can somehow get ourselves into heaven.

The right question is; "What makes you sure you are going to heaven?". If you try to make yourself the basis for your surety of heaven you will always feel unsure as you know you have all kinds of gaps in performance in all relationships, including with God!

It is only through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus and through that blood that you and I can be sure. So the answer to surety is in another person. The person of Jesus Christ! He presented his own blood in the throne room in heavens tabernacle as an eternal sacrifice for you and I, so that God may accept us into our eternal home in heaven.

It is all in the following scriptures. Enjoy as they reveal your eternal destiny as a believer in Jesus Christ! His blood made a home for you in heaven mortgage free! His return signals our homecoming!!

9This is an illustration pointing to the present time. For the gifts and sacrifices that the priests offer are not able to cleanse the consciences of the people who bring them. 10For that old system deals only with food and drink and various cleansing ceremonies—physical regulations that were in effect only until a better system could be established. 11So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world. 28So also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.

Hebrews 9:11-12&28 NLT

1“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. 4And you know the way to where I am going.” 5“No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?” 6Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

Thank you Jesus for coming and paying the price that I could never pay. My assurance is in Jesus death not by what I can or can't do. I know for sure that I am going to heaven to see my heavenly Daddy and my big brother Jesus Christ not by my works but the death of my saviour.

Breakthrough 93 to me helps to fulfill Phillipians 2:2 "by being one in mind and one in spirit" this will break any strongholds the enemy may have amongst us, simply by being unified in Christ through praying for one another's needs and spiritual health as well as upholding church leadership. While developing a more humble, grace giving, loving character in ourselves through relationship with Christ.
